Synopsis
IT'S A CRIME WHAT PRISON CAN DO TO A GIRL!
A brutal society in which the strong survive and the weak are no match for the cruelties of the system.
A follow up to Alan Clarke’s Scum, an indictment of Britain’s juvenile justice system, Scrubbers graphically depicts of life bars in a woman’s detention centre. Through eyes of lesbian Carol and promiscuous teenage mother Annetta, we follow the endless round of violence, bitching and brawling. Scrubbers  provides shocking yet compelling detail of a brutal society in which the strong survive and the weak are no match for the cruelties of the system. Brilliantly acted by a powerhouse cast including Pam St Clement (‘Pat’ from EastEnders), Kathy Burke (Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Nil By Mouth), Robbie Coltrane (Cracker, Harry Potter) and other actors who have actually done time.
