Umbrella Entertainment is proud to support a First Nations Voice to the Federal Parliament

24 August 2023

In May 2017, more than 250 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people issued the Uluru Statement from the Heart. It asked us to create a better future for all of Australia and to include an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice in the Australian Constitution.

Later this year, Australians will vote in a referendum that has the power to change Australia’s Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to Parliament and Government.

In the lead up to the referendum, we will be reflecting and contemplating on what this vote means for all Australians, and we are proud to be voting “YES” as we prepare for the countries important referendum.

“We are proud to have a rich catalogue of First Nations films at Umbrella Entertainment and seek to champion Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples visibility, independence and creativity both on screen, and off. We look forward to seeing the Uluru Statement from the Heart moving closer to fulfilment this year”

– Jeff Harrison, Managing Director of Umbrella Entertainment
